ARTIST STATEMENT

My interest in photography began as a child, browsing through my father’s photo albums. I was especially fascinated by photographs of my grandparents and great grandparents. Even if we never met or I was too young to remember, I still felt a spiritual connection to them. These images played a significant influence on my work which explores themes of family history, ancestor worship and infertility issues. I enjoy mixing traditional photography with alternative photographic processes including cyanotypes, anthotypes, and chlorophyll prints in addition to collage and mixed media. I’m also an experienced art educator and have taught children of all ages. Through the healing process of creating art, I hope my shared experiences inspire future generations.
